Have a question? Ask Here PA is designed to provide fast answers to your questions. A librarian is available 24/7 and in most cases, you will receive your answer within 15 minutes. If the question involves lengthy research, an Ask Here PA librarian will get you started and/or provide a referral for you.

 

 

Access PA/Interlibrary Loan

Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is a member of the Access Pennsylvania Database, a web-based union catalog and resource-sharing guide to member library collections.

You can search the database for books not available in the PCA&D Library collection. When you have located a book within the database, complete an online
PCA&D Interlibrary Loan Request form. The librarian will process your request and contact you when the book has arrived.

Points of View Reference Center

POV is a full-text database of essays covering multiple sides of 250 current issues.

 


 

Electronic Books

 

     EBSCO eBooks

A collection of nearly 9,000 books that may be "signed-out" for viewing electronically. Many are avaialbe to download ofline to your laptop or eReader device, such as Sony or Nook.  Access is available by going directly to the EBSCO eBook link or through the library's online public access catalog.

 

To download offline, you must first register and sign-in to your account.

The Getty Research Portal™ is a free online search platform providing  access to  art history texts in the public domain covering art, architecture, material culture, and related fields.

Electronic Reserves

Required or recommended readings selected by the faculty for student access and placed on reserve. Copyright of all articles is the property of the posted copyright holder and content may not be copied or emailed to multiple sites or pasted to a list-serve without the copyright holder’s express written permission. However, users may print, download or email articles for individual educational use.
 


 

Encyclopedia Britannica Academic

Continuously updated reference site with more than 7,500 articles and more than 23,000 biographies. In addition, Britannica Online includes World Data Analyst, Gateway to the Classics, Meriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, Meriam Webster's Dictionary of Quotations, selected full-text articles from EBSCO and ProQuest journals, BBC & New York Times daily headlines, The Web's Best, World Atlas and Workspace, a research organizer.

Franklin & Marshall College Library

The Pennsylvania College of Art & Design and Franklin & Marshall College have a library partnership that allows use of each other’s library by faculty and students enrolled in their respective institutions.

PCA&D students and faculty have access to the print book collection at both Franklin & Marshall libraries for borrowing and research purposes. On your first visit, you must have your PCA&D ID with current semester attending identifyer.  At the circulation desk, you will be asked to complete appropriate paper work; then you will be issued a Franklin & Marshall ID for use in that library.

Library System of Lancaster County

With the ownership of a public library card from the Library System of Lancaster County, students, faculty and staff have remote access to many online services.
A card from the Library System of Lancaster County is required to use the system. A card application may be downloaded from the library system’s website.
