This is an abbreviated list of activities throughout the 2013-2014 school year. We'll continue to add events as the year progresses.

October 2013

04 Artist talk by Mosaic Project artist Lahlah Ali, 10 a.m. in atrium.
04 First Friday: The Mosaic Project exhibit opens in the Main Gallery from 5 - 9 p.m. Visit pcad.edu/maingallery for details.
04 "Meet the Artist," Laylah Ali from 6 - 8 p.m. Main Gallery
05-06 PCA&D participates in the global "24-Hour Comics Day." Free, public artist talk and panel discussion begins at 2 p.m. on Oct. 5. Speaker is Mike Manley, and the panel discussion includes Manley and PCA&D faculty members Mike Hawthorne, Bob McLeod, and Bob Hochgertel. Full details are here. 05-06 Art Walk in Lancaster city. PCA&D open on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday from noon - 4 p.m. Visit lancasterartwalk.org.

November 2013

01 Artists talk by Thomas Wedell. 10 a.m. in the atrium; in conjunction with the exhibit "Skolos and Wedell: A Poster Retrospective" in the Main Gallery (see next entry). Skolos and Wedell were PCA&D graduation speakers in 2012. Click here for the story and pics.

18 Artist talk by PCA&D faculty member Tom Bejgrowicz and partner Jennifer Martin. "The Black Belt of Alabama," a photographic essay. 1 p.m. in the atrium. Free and open to the public.

23 Continuing Ed classes end.
26-29 Thanksgiving break (BFA). Building closed Nov. 28-Dec. 1; reopens Dec. 2).

 

December 2013

06 Artist talk by James Portnow of "Farmville" fame and leader in the "Games for Good" movement. Talk begins at 4 p.m. in the atrium; free and open to the public.

13 Last Day of Fall Semester, BFA
Building closed for winter break beginning at 4:30 p.m. on December 20; reopens on January 2 at 7:45 a.m.

21-22 Sixth annual Designathon, 24 hours of creativity and community service. Click here to see last year's success stories, artwork created, and photos.
25-March 2 Spring break (BFA)

March 2014
07 First Friday, Main Gallery. Details coming soon. In the meantime, visit pcad.edu/maingallery for our current exhibit.
04 Last day to drop courses with no penalty (BFA).

11 Artist talk with multidisciplinary artist Elizabeth Duffy. 10 a.m. in the atrium; free and open to the public.

20 Panel discussion at 4 p.m. in the atrium; free and open to the public. "Folklore." In conjunction with PCA&D gallery exhibit of same name, which features original Fraktur drawings in conversation with contemporary works of art. Moderated by PCA&D gallery director Heidi Leitzke, panelists include Amy Cutler, Clare Grill, and Baker Overstreet.

April 2014
03 Multi-disciplinary artist Irvin Climaco Morazan, of Hunter College/The City University of New York, will present an artist talk at 10 a.m.

22 Last day of BFA classes

May 2014

02 Senior Show & Celebration. Family preview from 4 - 5 p.m., public viewing from 5 - 8 p.m.  Graduating seniors take over 60,000 sq. ft. of the college to show off their senior thesis projects in a variety or media. Click here for photos and the story from last year's SS&C.
03 The Class of 2014 graduates at 11 a.m.

June 2014
