PCA&D's 30th commencement was a classic springtime day, as members of the Class of 2012 began their post-college journey. Hundreds of family members and friends joined the 52 seniors who graduated on May 5 during commencement ceremonies held at the Ann & Richard Barshinger Center on the Franklin & Marshall College campus.
PCA&D Chairman of the Board Lois Dostalik, President Mary Colleen Heil, Academic Dean Marc Torick and Dean of Students Pam Richardson presented diplomas and led the entire PCA&D community in acknowledging the graduates' hard work and dedication over the past four years. They wished them much encouragement as the new graduates move ahead in their careers as artists and designers.
Academic awards were presented by department chairs.
Highest GPA: Kathleen Quinn McNichol, Fine Art department.
Outstanding students in each department were: Eileen Heasley and Kathleen Quinn McNichol, Fine Art department; Joseph Pietrzak, Graphic Design department; Stephen J. Pala Jr. and Cassandra Lee Steich, Illustration department; Ashley E. Moog, Photography department.
Nancy Skolos and Thomas Wedell (shown above) were graduation speakers and wove a seven-point story full of sage advice for the graduates. Each point was rooted in personal experience and they illustrated, via a slide show, how each piece of advice helped them achieve success in numerous professional projects.
PCA&D President Mary Colleen Heil (shown above) welcomed the Class of 2012 and led the ceremony.
