Artist Talk: Arlon Bayliss

Arlon Bayliss will be presenting to PCA&D students, on Friday November 11, 12:00 p.m., at the invitation of the Foundation Department


Arlon Bayliss studied at the Royal College of Art, in London, England. He was artist and designer at Rosenthal Glass in Germany for more than 10 years, and designer for Blenko Glass in West Virginia for 9 years. His studio glass artwork is in collections and exhibitions worldwide.

He taught glass in the UK for seven years before moving to the states and establishing the glass program at Anderson University, Indiana in 1990. Since 2014 he has worked as a freelance artist, designer and educator. He is currently Creativity Training Consultant for 1st Maker Space in Indianapolis and teaches Drawing and 3D at Ivy Tech Community College in Arlon sign.

Bayliss’s public art projects include monumental outdoor works such as Helios and The Crystal Arch Project in Anderson, and large-scale indoor installations such as Light, Words, Life for the Indianapolis Central Library, Between Infinite Stars… at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation and Flight Wave, for the Indianapolis International Airport.

Recently his work was featured in “200 Years Of Indiana Art – A Cultural Legacy” at the Indiana State Museum. In October 2016 he completed “Seeds Of Light” an outdoor community public art commission for the Town of Speedway, Indiana.
