Artist Talk: Jeff Hesser
Join us 10 a.m. in the Atrium to hear visual artist Jeff Hesser speak about his work. Free and open to the public.
Jeff Hesser explores themes of memory, presence and absence, clarity and confusion in his work. This exhibition features large-scale drawings, clay, wax, bronze and digitally rendered 3D sculptures, along with a brand new digital interactive piece titled “Newborn.” Hesser hopes to share an experience with his audience; he often states that his goal is to “transform passive viewers into active participants.”
Jeff Hesser, http://www.jeffhesser.com/, is a sculptor with expertise in both traditional and digital techniques. He currently works as an artist at the video game company Harmonix and was the Lead Environment Artist on Disney’s Fantasia: Music Evolved. He is a founding member of Secret Portal, a collection of artists, designers, coders and musicians that has created two virtual reality installations for events at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Jeff’s work has been widely exhibited and featured in exhibitions at the Dahesh Museum, the National Sculpture Society and the Parrish Art Museum.
Hesser was an Artist Educator in Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of art in conjunction with the exhibition, The Passions of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and has taught workshops in sculpture, anatomy and drawing at many companies and institutions. He has 15 years of higher education teaching experience at Rhode Island School of Design , the New York Academy of Art, Rhode Island College, the University at Buffalo, and Hubei Normal University in China.
