First Friday Instagram Live: Delaina Jolley: Nodus Tollens
PCA&D’s CORE Gallery will host an Instagram Live event featuring its most recent Instagram exhibition, Delaina Jolley: Nodus Tollens, on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 5 pm in conjunction with Lancaster’s First Friday. Participants may visit @pcad_core_gallery on Instagram.
The Curatorial Board of CORE Gallery, the College’s student-led and student-managed exhibition space, has shifted to using Instagram as an exhibitions platform while coronavirus safety closures are in place. Curated Instagram takeovers are scheduled in two-week rotations, continuing to showcase the potent work of PCA&D students virtually, until CORE Gallery opens to the public again in the Fall.
The first exhibition (May 31-June 13) of this IG series is a solo exhibition by Delaina Jolley (’22, Illustration). Jolley, from Newark, Delaware, is a member of PCA&D’s Society of Illustrators and a regular Dean’s List honors recipient. She aspires to become an Art Director after graduation.
“I want this IG exhibition to represent a journey; it is a sense of searching one does when creating a world or story that either resides within them or is out in the world, waiting to be told.” Jolley says, “My aim is to present different ways of creating illustrations for viewers to enjoy.” Nodus Tollens is a phrase coined in John Koenig’s “Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows” to describe the feeling that the plot of your life doesn’t make sense to you anymore.
CORE Gallery—Creators Of Real Experiences—was founded by Student Council in 2020 as the student-managed gallery at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, created to provide the students of PCA&D opportunities to exhibit and present their creative work while building exhibition history and gallery-management experience.
