Writing About: Art & You
Designed for writers and artists in any genre, this generative workshop invites participants to interact with the PCA&D Main Gallery Exhibition “Art & You: Antonius-Tin Bui and Cupid Ojala” and develop new work.
Antonius-Tin Bui is a queer, gender-nonbinary Vietnamese-American artist and recent graduate of the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Their hand-cut paper portraits of Queer People of Color Antonius has had the honor of befriending are influenced by the artist’s environment and the tradition of cut paper that is visible among most Asian cultures.
Cupid Ojala earned his MFA at Parsons The New School for Design. His performances and portraits draw attention to some of the most personal aspects of LGBTQ culture, including hair, desire, and the concept of transformation.
Students will be guided through the gallery and prompted to respond in writing to specific works of art (ekphrasis).
Accessibility: This workshop requires movement throughout the gallery and a portion of the gallery is only accessible by stairs. Please contact us with any accessibility questions or requests.
