Christina Hess

Chair of Illustration, Assistant Professor


Christina’s illustration consists of historical and natural elements that assist in creative problem solving for a variety of clients. She has worked on a diverse number of projects ranging from numismatic designs to cookbooks.

Through the United States Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program Christina has had her work selected for the 2020 Silver Dollar Coin honoring the 19th Amendment and the Women’s Suffrage movement. In addition to coin design, she has illustrated the children’s book “The Nutcracker” as well as Cider Mill Press’s Ultimate cookbook series.

She has received nominations and awards including a silver award in the Society of Illustrators West competition. Her work was featured in the “The Point of Vision” show at the Society of Illustrators, NY which celebrated women artists in the science fiction/fantasy genre. Additionally, she has been honored in publications such as Spectrum Fantastic Art, Imagine FX, Expose, 3×3 Magazine’s Pro, and Children’s shows.

Her ongoing pet project, “Animals From History”, celebrates animals as historical personalities and features over twenty-five characters. They have been featured on ABC News, Juxtapose Magazine, Mental Floss, Modern Met, and
