Emily makes artist’s books, text-based art, installations, and audience participation works. Areas of focus have included narrative and storytelling projects, Occupy Wall Street, the city of Wilmington, Delaware, and the complex relationships we have with material objects and ownership.

Emily has a BA in Russian Literature (Columbia), an MA in Slavic Literatures (Yale), and an MA with honors in Artists’ Books (Camberwell College of Art). She has taught Foundation courses at Chelsea College of Art and Byam Shaw/Central Saint Martins in London.

Her bookworks are in many public and private collections, including Tate Britain and the Art Institute of Chicago, and she has participated in the collateral exhibition section of the Venice Biennale.

In 2011, she founded Street Road (www.streetroad.org), a project space in Cochranville, Pennsylvania that explores intersections between art and ownership, particularly of land, buildings, and space.
