Illustration
O.Z. Sanders (she/they) is a mixed Black/white illustrator and educator whose imaginative paintings follow complex and determined protagonists as they navigate environments filled with anthropomorphized nature and technology. Born in DC, she received a BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and an MFA from the Illustration Practice Program at the Maryland Institute College of Art. In the classroom, Sanders offers a student-centered approach, with a focus on facilitating growth in each artist’s individual practice. Past clients include: The New York Times (Book Review), Democracy Collaborative, WSQ (Black Love issue) by Feminist Press at CUNY, and their work has been purchased for private collections in New York City, Los Angeles, DC, and Austin.
