Advanced Social Media Marketing Winter Course with Mia Aquino

. . .

Sunday, January 19th, 2020

Hello. My name is Mia Aquino and I am excited to be back at PCA&D this winter, teaching SM 102 Advanced Social Media Marketing. You might have taken SM 105 Content Creation with me, or attended a workshop here on campus. If you haven’t, I’d love to introduce myself and tell you more about the course I am teaching this semester.

I am a social media strategist, marketer, and entrepreneur with more than 10 years’ experience leading social media for news, media, and entertainment brands. I’ve worked at places such as CNN, The Huffington Post, and VH1 before launching my own business. In 2018, I started Hat Tip Digital LLC, a social media marketing agency based in Lancaster, PA. 🎩

I’m proud of the work we do at Hat Tip Digital. Social media can be overwhelming at times, and it’s hard to push through all that noise. I’ve managed social media for businesses, brands, corporations, people, non-profits, and more, so I know what a challenge it can be. I work with clients to help them find their voice and reach their audience. It’s all about understanding your brand, understanding your audience, and creating the right content experiences for both.

In SM 102 Advanced Social Media Marketing, we will go in-depth on social media marketing strategy. At the end of this course, students will be able to create, implement, execute, and measure an effective social media marketing strategy. This is such an important skill to have because you will learn how to own it from start to finish. That means you will understand who your target audience is and how you can reach them through the right social media channels.

From there, students will learn how to build a strong social media presence for a brand, a business, or themselves, using both organic and paid tactics. The course will cover best practices for networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter— everything from managing a social media posting calendar and campaigns, as well as advanced elements of social media targeting, analytics, insights, measurement, KPIs, and ROI for social media.

In addition, I am always open to questions, comments, and concerns about how what we are learning in the classroom is applicable to your real life. As a social media manager, strategist, marketer, and business owner, I want to ensure that our time together will leave you with the ability to be successful in the social space. I am always happy to add additional material to lectures based on questions and feedback.

Looking forward to this semester!
