Description

This beginners workshop explores the foundations of abstraction through Mark Rothko and the Color Field Movement. You will use color, shape and surface to evoke emotion and atmosphere in your painting. Through a series of small studies, you will experiment with underpainting, layering and composition. You will then create a larger color-field inspired painting with the skills gained throughout the workshop. You will leave the workshop with a better understanding of how to build on the fundamentals of abstraction and feel comfortable painting abstractly. This workshop is primarily studio based and will involve lecture and hands-on practice with one-on-one check-ins.

This course must meet minimum enrollment by February 20 in order to run. Register today!
