Description
Making the jump from black and white to the full spectrum can be intimidating! This class is meant to help give aspiring painters the tools and intuitive understanding to move beyond formulas. You are welcome to choose the opaque paint medium of your choice (acrylics, oils, temperas, gouache) along with brushes, a palette knife, and an appropriate paint mixing surface based on your medium. A lecture on color systems, color theory, and a shape-based approach to composition will be followed by a demonstration on color matching. We will move from a color matching exercise to working from a still life setup to complete three color variations based on the concepts from color theory from your choosing. Additionally, we will review the beginning framework of how to use composition to experiment with color, mood, tone and more!
This course must meet minimum enrollment by March 15 in order to run. Register today!
