Description
In this workshop, we will explore ways to use our voices to express ourselves and tell our stories, while also briefly surveying key Latinx voices that speak from and about the experiences of living on the linguistic borderlands of Spanglish. In the words of Chicana activist and scholar Gloria Anzaldúa, “Until I can take pride in my language, I cannot take pride in myself.” In other words, to empower ourselves we must feel empowered in our languages. This workshop seeks to empower Spanglish speakers by providing them with a creative space to write 3-5 minute monologs that celebrate and validate their use of Spanglish as a form of self-expression.
This course must meet minimum enrollment by October 31 in order to run. Register today!
