Sometimes referred to as reductive drawing, subtractive drawing focuses on creating high contrast works of art by removing material with an eraser as the primary drawing tool. Beginning with a dark, charcoal toned paper students will draw by removing drawing material from the paper with an eraser. Basic charcoal drawing techniques will be learned for sharpening details and creating a refined work of art.
This course must meet minimum enrollment by March 1 in order to run. Register today!
- Charcoal pencils (2b, 6b and white)
- Compressed charcoal (6b)
- Kneaded eraser and white rubber eraser
- Charcoal paper (start with a few pieces and more options will be discussed on the first night of class) min. 18″ x 24″
