In this intergenerational class, participants will learn about assemblage artist Betye Saar and her role in the Black Arts Movement in the 1970’s. We will learn basic mixed media and assemblage techniques, visual storytelling through color themes and object groupings, and create a work based off a personal story we want to tell. Participants are encouraged to gather small personal mementos to use as inspiration or content in our individual three-dimensional picture.
