Description

Sometimes referred to as reductive drawing, subtractive drawing focuses on creating high contrast works of art by removing material with an eraser as the primary drawing tool. Beginning with a dark, charcoal toned paper students will draw by removing drawing material from the paper with an eraser. Basic charcoal drawing techniques will be learned for sharpening details and creating a refined work of art.

  • Heavy weight drawing paper (80lb or 400 series) no smaller than 11×14” – 2 sheets
  • Compressed charcoal
  • Willow/vine charcoal
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Eraser Rag/Chamois
  • Drawing Board 18”x24”
  • Artists Tape
  • Sand paper
