Celebrating the Class of 2019
New this year, the Senior Send-off is an important part of PCA&D’s commencement celebration and will be held Thursday, May 2, 6:00 -7:30 p.m. At this student-only celebratory event, seniors will receive their berets, a traditional symbol of the artist, to be worn at graduation, and have an opportunity to view the Senior Show. These berets were designed and made by Lancaster County’s own Bollman Hat Company, the oldest hat manufacturer in the United States.
In addition, seniors will be welcomed into the ranks of the PCA&D alumni through a champagne toast with the President and pinning ceremony with the City of Lancaster, as well as PCA&D faculty, staff, and alumni.
37th Commencement: Friday May 3, 10:00 a.m.
The 37th Commencement of Pennsylvania College of Art & Design will be held Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at Barshinger Hall, on the Campus of Franklin and Marshall College, 620 College Ave., Lancaster PA 17603.
Graduating seniors will receive their Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in one of five majors: Illustration, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Digital Media, and Photography, during the commencement ceremonies. This is a ticketed event.

Commencement packets will be distributed in late-March to the members of the Class of 2019 and will contain commencement announcements, tickets for commencement, tickets for the family preview to the Senior Show and Celebration, logistical information, and more.

While you are in Lancaster. Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5, is the annual Lancaster ArtWalk, a tour of the downtown galleries in Lancaster City. Special exhibitions, meet-the-artist events, children’s activities, and live demonstrations are all available for discovery within the bustling independent galleries of Lancaster City.

Artwork will fill four floors of the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design on Friday, May 3, as the Class of 2019 exhibit professional-level senior thesis projects in a variety of media, the culminating work of PCA&D’s graduates. PCA&D’s annual celebration is the culmination of a day which begins with Commencement, when the BFA degree candidates in Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design, Digital Media, and Illustration graduate.
Following a Parents’ Preview at 4 p.m., the College will open the Senior Show & Celebration to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is the largest annual one-day gallery event in Lancaster. The public is invited to meet the artists, view the artwork, and enjoy live music and refreshments. Many works are for sale.
From May 4-26, one work from each member of the Class of 2019 will be featured in the Main Gallery. Hours for the exhibit are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (closed Memorial Day).
