Dan Helwig joins College as Vice President of Development

Dan Helwig brings a long record of successful advancement and development fundraising to PCA&D as the College’s new Vice President of Development. In this position Helwig, who joined the College this fall, is responsible for leading and managing the College’s Development program, including individual, corporate, and foundation giving, bequests, the annual fund, grants, and special fundraising events.

President Molla is excited by Helwig’s expertise and vision, noting that he will join the senior team in advancing the College’s strategic plan: The Art of Transformation: Designing for Our Future. “I couldn’t be more excited with Dan’s leadership skills and professional accomplishments to lead this bold strategic plan for our future,” says Molla.
Helwig’s resume with college advancement includes leadership positions at The Catholic University of America, Lebanon Valley College, York College of Pennsylvania, and Elizabethtown College. As Assistant Dean for Advancement, School of Arts and Sciences at Catholic University Helwig successfully helmed initiatives to increase support of the college, including fundraising during the pandemic and garnering support for the university’s $400 million comprehensive campaign. At Lebanon Valley College, he successfully orchestrated philanthropic outreach, including the three best years of fundraising in LVC’s history, attracting new commitments as well as gifts for a new counseling program in academic and career success. His work with York College of Pennsylvania, as Dean of College Advancement, tripled gift revenue, organized the College’s entrepreneurship center, and integrated communications into alumni relations and development.
During his career, Helwig also has performed similar work for the York Health Foundation of WellSpan Health and has served on numerous boards for local and regional organizations and nonprofits.
In addition to growing and managing PCA&D’s Development program, he will be responsible for working with Trustees and President Molla on cultivation, strategy development, solicitation, and stewardship of all donors. Helwig also will head collaboration with staff on identification, drafting, and writing of grants and award applications for the College, staff the Board of Trustees’ External Relations Committee, and provide support to the Vice President of Student Affairs & Community Engagement for the Alumni and Parent Councils.
