Welcome to the Student Life Department’s Housing and Commuter Services, which provides students support as they transition into different experiences throughout their college career. We understand that the transition to a new surrounding and being included in a new community is daunting but we try to make it as simple as possible through our plethora of options.
Housing Experience Options
Pennsylvania College of Art and Design offers 3 categories for their student housing experiences: The PCA&D Housing Experience, Commuter Connections, and Housing Referral Service. Our options are catered to fit each student’s needs the best we can. Whether you yearn for independent living, prefer to travel to campus from home, or wish to join a community of like-minded artists and designers, we have the experiences for you.
1. The PCA&D Housing Experience
Settle into housing managed and operated by PCA&D
PCA&D Housing ranges from 1 bedroom apartments shared between 2 students to 4 bedroom apartments shared between 4 students; Although these apartments are shared, our students experience the luxury of having common areas, full kitchens, and bathrooms only shared with their roommates.
Enjoy the convenience of housing costs and fees billed along with PCA&D tuition!
Each PCA&D Housing Experience for our first years includes an on-site Community Assistant! Community Assistants help run activities and support students while they stay in the housing location.
No messy maintenance calls enjoy the luxury of a Maintenance Ticket System & the Emergency Student Life Helpline.

2. Commuter Connections
Traveling from your current location to PCA&D
Easily sign up for a carpool buddy with our PCA&D Housing Newsletter! Our Housing Newsletter is a helpful resource to our commuters and students looking for apartments/roommates. By utilizing the Newsletter’s ads, commuters can reach out to carpooling opportunities at their own pace.
Commuters who drive to campus are encouraged to utilize the Water Street Parking Garage, which is located just behind our campus. Information on how to obtain a parking pass for this option is available by emailing our Bursars Office.
Safe travel to and from campus is one of our top priorities. In inclement weather conditions, PCA&D will use the RAVE text and email Alert system to announce campus closures, advisories, or safety concerns.
As a commuter, you have the luxury of extra lounge space and work areas on campus including our atrium, cafe area, public art garden, computer labs, Cintiq lab, studios, and more!
3. The Lancaster Housing Referral Service

By applying for the PCA&D Housing Referral Service, you gain access to our PCA&D Housing Newsletter! Our Housing Newsletter is a helpful resource to our students looking for apartments/roommates. All apartment listings are filtered by our team to help ensure a reasonable, comfortable and affordable living experience for our students.
Enjoy the flexibility of finding your own apartment in Lancaster and connecting with potential roommate(s). With the peace of mind that our team is dedicated to helping you find the perfect housing experience, you will be updated with regular Newsletter announcements and check-ins. If you are having a difficult time, PCA&D’s Housing Service will recommend available options.
