Pennsylvania College of Art & Design has announced that Amber Kane has been hired as Director of Continuing Education, bringing her backgrounds as an arts educator and textile artist to the position.

Kane, who has worked for two years as PCA&D’s Continuing Education Assistant, holds a bachelors in arts education from Messiah College and a masters in creativity studies  from Union Institute and University of Vermont. She has 10 years’ experience in teaching the arts as an online graduate instructor for “The Art of Education,” an online AP Art and Art History instructor for homeschool students,  and a teacher inservice trainer on “Bringing Creativity into the Classroom.”

Kane, the owner of Amber Kane Textiles, is also a working artist who designs and creates one-of-a-kind scarves and other textile pieces. According to Kane,  when it comes to weaving she never follows pattern, making each piece up as she goes along. She thinks of each textile as an over composition, more like a painting, instead of creating pattern repeats.  Her work can be found online at https://amber-kane.myshopify.com/.
