Class of 2016 artists present Fine Art, Photography lectures
Friday, March 18th, 2016
Seniors in Fine Art & Photography taking Becky Blosser’s Professional Practices course will be presenting Artist Lectures, sharing their ideas for their senior thesis to their classmates and others on Monday, March 21 in the Atrium at PCA&D, 204 N Prince Street, Lancaster.
“This assignment, in addition to being a significant part of their grade in this course, gives students an opportunity to publicly present their work and ideas to others. Effective communication is an important component of the artistic experience, and can be a much different toolset than working in the studio,”said Blosser.
“Along with this, it’s an exciting time for others in the PCA&D community to catch a glimpse of the senior work within the Fine Art and Photo Departments, and with just six weeks to go until the Senior Show, this is a crucial time for feedback as students prepare their thesis, a requirement for graduation,” Blosser continued.
Students participating in the Artist Lectures are: Erich Bell, fine art, Harrisburg, PA; Alexandria Bonner, fine art, Carlisle, PA; Mikayla Brown, photography, Jefferson Hills, PA; Casey Clark, fine art, Littlestown, PA; Vanessa Clough, photography, Harrisburg, PA; Andre Diebert, photography, Millersville, PA; Cortney Ellis, photography, Manchester, PA; Revekah Espina, photography, Randallstown, MD; Jen Godfrey, fine art, Red Lion, PA; Jason Herr, fine art, Lancaster, PA; Nicole Hittner, fine art, Hillsborough, NJ; Rachel Hopper, photography, Bloomsbury, NJ; Sara Pietrowski, photography, Mohrsville, PA; Trayton Pinson, photography, Reisterstown, MD; Samantha Sanders, fine art, Grantville, PA; Jess Straub, photography, Lancaster, PA; Alexis Suplee, fine art, Ambler, PA; Paige Thoman, fine art, Spring Grove, PA; and Megan Wirick, fine art, Newville, PA
The senior’s complete thesis will be on exhibit during the Senior Show & Celebration, as artwork will fill four floors of the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design on Friday, May 6, as the Class of 2016 exhibit professional-level senior thesis projects in a variety of media, the culminating work of PCA&D’s 52 graduates in fine art, illustration, photography and graphic design.
Following a Parent’s Preview, the College will open the Senior Show & Celebration to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. The event often billed as the largest annual one-day gallery event in Lancaster. The public is invited to meet the artists, view the artwork and enjoy live music and refreshments. Many works are for sale.
PCA&D’s annual celebration is the culmination of a day which begins with Commencement, when the 52 BFA degree candidates in fine art, photography, graphic design and illustration graduate. The ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., in the Commonwealth Ballroom of the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square
