College’s first-ever Ampersand Day a success
Friday, September 9th, 2022
Our thanks to the hundreds of students who turned out on Thursday to make the College’s first-ever celebration of National Ampersand Day a huge success!
“It was exciting to celebrate the additive and inclusive power of the ampersand with our community, and see so much creative expression and art making throughout the day,” President Michael Molla said.
During the day they filled the CoLab between classes to design their own T-shirts, submitted ampersands to a design contest, played People Bingo, built a balloon ampersand, filled a wall with famous pairs, created a new chalk mural, and consumed (lots of!) “&” snacks (A&W Root Beer and M&Ms, anyone?)
And, in the break before evening classes, more than 100 students, faculty, and staff filled the Art Garden for a picnic and drone photo — see above — creating what’s safe to say was Lancaster’s largest-ever ampersand. It was exciting to feel that energy and watch creativity show itself in so many ways. Thanks to our Student Affairs Team for their planning and effort, and to so many others in the College community for lending your time and talents to our celebration.
