PCAD’s Olivia DiFilippo, junior Fine Art Major from Wilmington DE, is showing two cyanotypes in the current exhibition 2nd Rate Citizen at the Sunshine Gallery, 104 W King Street, Lancaster PA.. Curated by Tim Roda, PCA&D Adjunct Professor, 2nd Rate Citizen is a group show in the “small gallery” space at Sunshine Art & Design. The show takes a critical look at what’s happening in the City of Lancaster and nationally around the sensitive issues of poverty and race. Works included in the show are from powerhouse artists such as Roy Decarva and David Hammons, NCECA’s Emerging Artist of the Year, Robert Lugo, as well as the debut of several emerging local artists.
Saying that art has more meaning to it, besides being pretty, Roda hopes to further the dialogue around art and culture as it intersects with real life struggles. 2nd Rate Citizen is the first of a series of exhibitions, where art goes “south of King Street to grapple with real substantive problems.”
