Portland Biennial features work of Photography Chair Eric Weeks

Eric Weeks, chair of PCA&D’s Photography Department is included in the 2018 Portland Museum of Art Biennial, showing his short film The Wind Dies The Sun Sets, made in collaboration with Joshua Reiman.
In addition to this exhibition, the film was screened at PCA&D at the most recent Faculty Biennial, and has also been shown at Cairo Video Festival, Cairo (2017), Art COP22, Arkane Afrika, Marrakesh (2016), and Art Speaks Out, IkonoTV, Berlin (2016). It has received the following awards:
  • G2 Green Earth Film Festival Semi-Finalist, Los Angeles (2018)
  • Open Call Winner, Art Speaks Out, IkonoTV, Berlin (2016)
  • Finalist, Black Mariah Film Festival, Jersey City (2016)

The film, co-created with Josh Reiman, is a contemplative consideration of energy extraction and use in Pennsylvania. The film’s emotional cadence shares the difficult realities of the altered landscape and the people who are involved.
