Thursday, April 13th, 2017
Three PCA&D Students’ work was selected as winners in the 2017 Graphic Design USA’s annual American Package Design Awards competition. Congratulations to PCA&D Seniors Maranda Bressi, West Lawn, PA, Wyatt Hockensmith, Dover, PA, and Corey Rafferty, Hershey, PA, for winning Graphic Design USA’s 2017 Package Design Awards.
The students submitted their entries into the Student Design category of the competition as part of Tom Newmaster’s Packaging Design Class.
According to GDUSA, the competition work showcased here – from 200 elite design firms, design departments and production companies – is testimony to how Package design and related disciplines are increasingly the difference makers in advancing the brand and influencing the purchasing decision, overcoming fragmented audiences, information overload, media clutter, global competition, economic dislocation, changing practices and preferences.
PCA&D, one of only seven institutions with award winners this year, has had success in the competition previously. In both 2015 and 2016, two PCA&D students received American Packaging Design awards, Lauren Carbone and Andrew Kinsey in 2016 and Socheata Chhun and Samantha Mongelluzzo in 2015.
