Graphic Design, BFA

Thesis Project

Inspired by his deep passion for hockey and branding, Ryan has created an NHL expansion franchise for his senior thesis project. The franchise is based in Kansas City, MO, and carries the name Fox Trotters, representing and embodying the city’s and state’s culture. The name Fox Trotters pays homage to the Missouri Fox Trotter, the official state horse of Missouri, and the franchise’s predecessors, the Kansas City Scouts. The franchise’s overall branding represents Kansas City through the team color scheme, which showcases the city’s flag and the hidden message of “KC” within the Fox Trotters head on the primary logo. As a result, this demonstrates and creates a strong identity for the franchise that will drop the puck in October 2024 in the Heartland of America.
