Eric Weeks, Chair of Photography at PCA&D, said, “Exposing Influences is an exhibition by senior photo majors that visually highlights the intellectual process the students have been learning in their senior thesis class. Each student is exhibiting one or two photographs from their current work, alongside images and quotes by artists, philosophers and scientists that have influenced them. The exhibition offers a brief glimpse into the students’ learning process of engaging in a historical and global dialogue, one that in the immediate future culminates in their senior thesis paper and senior show, but ultimately prepares the students for a lifetime in art.”
Also opening on February 5 in Pennsylvania College of Art & Design’s Main Gallery will be a new exhibition titled Memory: Digital and Traditional Work by Jeff Hesser, which will run through March 13, 2016. In addition, the artist will present a talk to students and members of the public at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5. A Reception for the Artist will be held 6 – 8 p.m., February 5 during First Friday Lancaster.
Hesser is an artist whose practice is rooted in drawing and observation of the human form, simultaneously expanding into relatively new art-making media such as 3D printing and interactive digital experiences. Hesser’s exhibition at PCA&D will feature large-scale drawings, clay, wax, bronze and digitally rendered 3D sculptures, and a brand new digital interactive piece titled “Newborn.” http://www.jeffhesser.com/
