Lavender Skate Mag is a magazine dedicated to exploring the connection between the activity of skateboarding and the creativity involved. The Lavender brand is meant to show off the creative side of skateboarders with interviews, art spreads, and merchandise. This first issue features interviews with skateboarders local to the Frederick, MD area, like the ‘De.Piction’ co-directors, musicians, painters & and the Embark Skateshop owner and manager. I talked to all of them about how skateboarding influences their artistic expression through various mediums and methods of art. This project was laid out in InDesign, with both digital and film photography to supplement the subject matter of the interviews, and features photos and paintings from each of the artists interviewed. Altogether, I wanted to honor the Frederick skate scene and those creative people involved.
My passion for design comes from an interest in how I can translate a feeling into a physical piece of art or design and discover new ways to present ideas. While at PCA&D, I have won 2 GDUSA awards, one for “2025 Students To Watch” and a student packaging design award.
