The most interesting thing about being alive is observation and reflection. The work I aim to make is at the intersection of these two elements. I’ve always had an interest in art in all ways: painting, drawing, glass, ceramics, embroidery, mosaics, and I could go on. I look back to things I am familiar with and interested in in order to make sense of the world around me and the way I interact with it. I also like to make connections with memories and symbols to make associations to people in my work. I use a variety of methods and materials in order to achieve the specific goal of the work. I put a strong emphasis on connecting the material to the concept, being a multidisciplinary artist the materials and process are equally as important to the concept. The mode in which an image is made carries weight and its own meaning, a fully rendered painting is an intense form of observation, installation and sculptures take up their own space, and glass takes up space but has a transparency that can’t be mimicked. All of these intertwine to express personal experiences and new worlds for the viewer to enter.
