2024 Mi Gente exhibition

Mi Gente, started Fall 2021, is the Latino/a/x and Hispanic student club at PCA&D. The purpose of Mi Gente is to foster community and inclusion for Latino/a/x students on campus through cultural events and community building activities. This exhibition celebrates the creative work of our Latino/a/x and Hispanic students and highlights the diversity within their majors, mediums, subject matters, and forms of expression. Taking up space to share their work in honor of  Hispanic Heritage month is significant because Mi Gente’s vision is to emphasize that there is no one way to be Hispanic or Latino/a/x AND their shared cultural heritage is a unifying force. Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15th-October 15th, is a celebration of the many Hispanic and Latino/a/x communities who gained independence within this timeframe. Although not all Hispanic or Latino/a/x countries are free and independent, most participate in this celebration as an opportunity to reflect and pass on cultural histories and visions for the future.

This year students chose to present work showing the different ways to feel at home. The show will run through November 2024.
