While I Breathe, I Hope
While I Breathe, I Hope, is a curated collaboration between CORE Gallery and BLAC (Black Led Art Coalition) that features the work of 10 emerging Black artists: Alex Eggleston, Artzbeat, Cameren White, CamRyn Mickens, Delaina Jolley, Dom Bryson, Isiah Bates, Jasmyn Stokes, Kendall White, and Shazeem Sueksagan. This exhibition honors Black History Month and focuses on embracing identity and the lasting impact Black History has on these students.
“While I Breathe, I Hope is how we, as black people, have continued to overcome adversity by finding strength within ourselves and each other. Black History Month is a time to learn and reflect on those who came before us, who used their talents to obtain freedom and opportunities for the next generations. Rather than curating an exhibition based solely on retelling history, we want to showcase a representation of what that history has created. While I Breathe, I Hope, is a glimpse of what Black History is today and what we envision for the future.”
