“The Emperor’s New Clothes” interpreted by art students

Twelve students from Pennsylvania College of Art & Design will be visually interpreting the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale “The Emperor’s New Clothes” in an exhibition at the Community Room of King, 106 W King St, Lancaster, PA 17603,  from April 1 – 25, with a reception on First Friday, April 1, 5 – 8 p.m.

The students are enrolled in the Media, Form, and Concept class taught by Davis Moss, PCA&D fine art faculty member. Moss said, “This brief story is rich in metaphor and poses so many questions regarding beauty, pretense, deception, illusion, vanity, power, and the willingness to accept a lie. This makes it a perfect vehicle to challenge students to give visual form to their interpretative ideas.”

Additionally on April 1, First Friday Lancaster, Pensylvania College of Art & Design, 204 N Prince Street, Lancaster, will be holding a Reception,  5 – 8 pm, in the PCA&D Main Gallery, and a Landscape Poetry Reading hosted by Linda Brown, at 7 pm in the PCA&D Atrium, in conjunction with The Mountain and the Bumblebee, a travelling exhibit featuring contemporary artists and poets confronting broadly defined notions of landscape as both cultural icon and raw material, curated by Chris McGinnis.
