Creativity is….A Community Art Exhibition

Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D)’s Exhibitions Department and Center for Creative Exploration have teamed up with support of the City of Lancaster Office of Public Art to host an opportunity for the Lancaster community to showcase their visual response to the prompt, “Creativity is…” in an exhibition that will be installed at the Lancaster Amtrak station in two of the public art cases from August 9 – November 14, 2024. We hope to engage Amtrak station visitors and travelers through this collaborative installation that will involve the creation of artwork.

The Lancaster Amtrak station is the second busiest station in Pennsylvania with residents that commute in and around our region and visitors that pass through. This exhibition presents an opportunity to show the strength of creativity in our City and extended Lancaster community.

From April – July 29, 2024 community partners, PCA&D students and faculty, and Lancaster community members are invited to join a workshop, event, or visit our partner, curio, to pick up a 6” x 6” canvas panel and create their response to “Creativity is…

Names of partner organizations and each individual artists’ name will be listed on signage in the station cases.

Panels are due back to PCA&D by July 29, 2024. PCA&D is located at 204 N Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Questions can be sent to ce@pcad.edu

We invite artists to express their connection to creativity in as many ways as their imagination takes them. We only ask that artists be mindful that this exhibition is in a public space that is interacted with by guests of all ages including children. For this reason, PCA&D reserves the right not to display any artworks that feature explicit or graphic content.

Thank you to our Creativity Is… Partners!
