José was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Yet, he found a second home in Lancaster, the city that have allowed him to grow into a leader. José is earning a PhD on Caribbean and Latinx Literature with a certificate in Gender, Sexuality and Women Studies in Temple University. There, he teaches different levels of Spanish.

In Teatro Paloma, José is part of the leadership team, and the graphic designing committee. He has shown commitment to the community of Lancaster through his passion for this theatre company. Through Paloma Players, José has helped direct and produce Anna in the Tropics by Nilo Cruz and Yerma by Federico García Lorca. In 2016, he was also a part of the production team in Paloma’s original pieces: Relatos Caribeños: Puerto RicoScars of Ashes and, Entre Actos. In a collaboration with Creative Works of Lancaster, José played Miguel, the lead in Bocón by Lisa Loomer. Recently, he played multiple roles in Paloma’s latest staged reading The Hispanick Zone by Guillermo Reyes.
