Liberal Arts
Caitlin Downs teaches communication, literature, and creative writing in the Liberal Arts department. Her specializations include poetry, rhetoric, post-colonial literature, and interdisciplinary intersections within the arts and humanities. Her work can be found in publications and exhibits, some local and others international, with pieces such as photographic erasure poems appearing in anthologies and literary magazines.
Downs also serves the college as the Director of the Writing Center and provides students with academic support in writing, such as tutoring services. She works in partnership with the Learning Commons and Center for Teaching and Learning. Her aim is to bridge learning gaps, give students individualized attention, and help each student to write more confidently and competently.
