Where is your hometown/where did you grow up:
I am originally from Long Island, NY. I moved to Lancaster about 15 years ago, spent some time in New York City for college, and I now reside in York, PA.
Where did you go to school/ degrees or certifications you hold:
I began my college career studying fashion design and merchandising at LIM College in New York City. I quickly realized that I loved the art component of the fashion world, but did not want a career in business. I decided to come back to Lancaster and attend Millersville University where I discovered my passion for teaching, and received a degree in Art Education.
Prior work experience/ current:
I have been the Art Teacher at Price Elementary School in Lancaster City for the past 4 years. I love that I get to share my favorite artists, skills, and ideas with my students. It’s my dream job!
When did you first become interested in art/do you have a specific memory that you associate with this:
I was lucky enough to grow up in a family that supports and encourages the arts. Some of my earliest memories are of looking at my dad’s art book collection, and then creating paintings with him that were inspired by the great artists.
What kind of art do you make /what is your favorite medium to work in:
My favorite mediums are collage and mixed media. I have an extensive collection of sketchbooks where I do most of my work.
What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t making art:
I run an Etsy shop where I sell handmade jewelry, sketchbooks, and other creative items. I am also a bookworm; I read upwards of 50 books a year!
