Foundation Department Chair, Assistant Professor
Bill Mammarella is the Chair of the Foundation Department at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design where he has taught since 1997. He received a BA from Rutgers University and an MFA from the University of Delaware. His most influential artistic experiences were several study trips to Europe and a long sojourn as caretaker of a 265 acre retired farm in Nottingham, PA. His recent work explores the use of the figure in a dialogue with tradition. Skepticism of the past, doubt about the future and the place of the figure in contemporary myth making, all contribute to his illusion of painting.
