On February 20th, PCA&D hosted their 7th annual Designathon event. With the assistance of countless gallons of coffee, 25 students and 8 faculty members worked over a 24-hour period to create high-quality logos, brochures, websites and other promotional design materials for 8 local non-profit organizations.

The non-profits included in this years event, as well as the students and faculty members involved were:

Faith Tabernacle Transformation & Development Inc: A mentor inner city youth with homework assistance providing a free hot meal and a summer camp with activities

Bureau of Public Art, City of Lancaster:Works with organizations and individuals to facilitate the development of public art which celebrates diversity in Lancaster’s neighborhood

Compass Mark: Lebanon and Lancaster counties largest provider of substance abuse prevention, intervention and advocacy

Junior Achievement of Central Pennsylvania: World’s largest organization dedicated to empowering young people to own their economic success

Lighten Up Lancaster: A group of individuals, schools and workplaces interested in improving the health of residents by increasing activity and healthy eating

Gretna Theatre: Professional theatre offering main stage summer series and year-round educational outreach

The Museum Council of Lancaster County Locust Lane Riding Center: Presents awareness for our member museums and marketing the museums to our community

Locus Lane Riding Center: Enriches lives through equestrian activities

Designathon is an extremely rewarding event for PCA&D students. Through endless hours of hard-work and dedication, the students consistently manage to maintain levels of enthusiasm and excitement. This event provides them with the opportunity to work hands-on with real clients, fully capturing the essence of each client’s vision, all while giving back to the community.

This year’s 24-Hour Designathon ended up turning into a 19-Hour Designathon due to the snow. Although the students had less time to complete their work, they all did an outstanding job accomplishing their tasks and exceeding all clients’ expectations.

Each client responded with immense appreciation for their finished products and we couldn’t be more proud of our students:

Compass Mark: “The team working on our projects delivered BIG TIME. The results spoke well enough of the team, but the poise, interest and engaging nature of each member added so much to the outcome. Thank you for letting us experience your home of creativity. What you do goes beyond all of the fantastic imagery.”
