As one of the first professional arts colleges with a competitive esports team, PCA&D aims to offer students outlets for competitive gaming while, at the same time, continuing to develop the skills to imagine, create, and market games.
Current and prospective students will be invited to participate in remote tryouts for the PCA&D Overwatch and League of Legends teams on April 25 and 26 at 3 p.m. Sign up for tryouts by April 23.
The initiative to establish the PCA&D team grew from the leadership and vision of the College’s Competitive Gaming Club.
PCA&D recognizes the value that an esports program can offer students. Through organized teamplay, students are honing invaluable soft skills that are necessary in every career.
This co-curricular opportunity will also work in conjunction with our academic departments, specifically with Animation & Game Art and through a new Esports Management curriculum which is currently under development. That department’s curriculum offers tracks in:
- Character Animation for Games
- Environment Modeling for Games
- Level Design for Games
- Visual Development for Games
