Pennsylvania College has set the date for the Inauguration of its third President, Michael Molla, for Tuesday, Oct. 30. The afternoon ceremony will be held at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St. Activities surrounding the ceremony will also be scheduled that week.

Molla will begin his tenure at PCA&D on July 1, following the retirement of Mary Colleen Heil, who has served for 25 years as the College’s president.

Molla has served at Maryland Institute College of Art for a total of 26 years, and led MICA in the areas of student affairs, operations and strategic initiatives. Active in the Baltimore community, Molla served on numerous partnerships and boards and,  along with other Baltimore university leaders, helped shape and launch the Baltimore City Anchor Plan.  Molla earned his BA in Arts Education from Anna Maria College, Paxton, Mass., and his M.Ed. in Creative Arts Education from Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, Mass. Read More

Heil joined PCA&D as President in 1993 and has led the College through its development to an accredited college offering BFA degrees, and has overseen the College’s growth and increased presence in the region. In addition she led the expansion of the campus to include its current building, the Art Garden and two housing units.

In recent years, the College has initiated a new digital media degree and developed dedicated student housing. This work, along with PCA&D’s investments in technology, facilities and its educational philosophy “Communication as Currency,” has boosted its enrollment 22% over the last three years. Student placement in work and graduate school averages 95%.
