Kelly Phan ’22 named a Graphic Design USA Student to Watch
Saturday, February 19th, 2022
Graphic Design senior Kelly Phan has been named a GDUSA Student to Watch 2022 by Graphic Design USA. The annual honors, which recognize undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students, turn the spotlight onto “top students ready to burst on the design scene.”
Just 100 students from across the country were selected.
Prof. Pam Barby, Chair of Graphic Design, said Kelly’s recognition is well-deserved.
“Kelly accepts every challenge presented to her with grace and style, and that includes the last two years of online, hybrid, and in-person classroom instruction,” Barby says. “She gives 200 percent and always adds her personal illustration style to her graphic design work whenever possible. Any professional community seeking a great designer will find Kelly to be one of the best among the rest.”
Kelly, president of the College’s student chapter of AIGA, creates work filled with brilliant color palettes, bold typography, and flat-style illustrations. GDUSA reports her senior thesis — a cat café — is inspired by her love of animals.
