Meet Tyler Le: Illustration Student Ambassador
Thursday, December 6th, 2018
Tyler Le is our Illustration Student Ambassador. Tyler is from Chambersburg, PA and graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS). Tyler took a year off after high school to make sure that the next step in his life in art was one that would help him achieve his goals.
Student Ambassadors are current PCA&D students that serve as representatives of the college. They work primarily with the admissions department where they serve as guides for prospective students and their parents, art teachers, and guidance counselors. Student Ambassadors provide important insight into the creative environment found in our degree programs and they create an important link to prospective students who want to be part of the PCA&D community.
If you’ve just come across our blog, check out previous posts on our other student ambassadors, Adam Leitzel, Emily Phillips, Chris Morris, and Brigitte Errickson.
As you were searching and comparing colleges, what attracted you to PCA&D?
TL: I was very excited about the small close-knit classrooms. I came from a larger school setting and it gave me little room to get to know other serious art students until senior year’s AP class. Knowing that I would be able to learn from and get to know professors who were actively working in their career made me feel much more confident about what I was going to be learning here.
What do you love about Lancaster city?
TL: I love the vibrancy and exciting culture going on in this city. It continuously inspires my adventurous side and my creative side as an artist!
When giving a tour or talking about the College, what is one thing you are sure to show or describe to a prospective student?
TL: I definitely make sure to talk about the PCA&D community and how close this school really is. From events like Thanksgiving dinner and our assortment of clubs, there is definitely a strong family feel here and to be actively be a part of it will make your experience here even better!
What are you looking forward to most this school year?
TL: I’m really excited to really take the time to create things I’m pumped about while also figuring out exactly what kind of artist I am.
What does being a Student Ambassador mean to you?
TL: It means getting even more involved with this awesome and inspiring school! Being a part of this community really becomes addictive, for a lack of better words, and made me want to dive in and get to work!
What moment (so far) from your years at PCA&D will you always remember?
TL: Definitely the artist talks because of the awesome insight we get from guest artist that are doing things we all want to be doing. To be able to have these kind of opportunities makes me very grateful for the time the artist and the College spends to give us this knowledge.
How have your professors inspired you?
TL: My professors inspire me by constantly showing me that there is always something new to learn. Every professor has taught me some sort of skill that I still use in my practices to this day.
What words of wisdom would you share with a prospective student?
TL: Be ready to work and to get even more passionate about your work! Its not easy to be an artist, and there will be a lot of late nights, but you will truly grow. Grow not only as an artist, but as a person who truly loves every aspect of art.
Do you have a motto/favorite quote?
TL: Two!
“A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.” –Ghandi
“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything”- Vincent Van Gogh
