Tuesday, May 9th, 2023

Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is pleased to offer an upcoming series of free week-long online workshops that will help students prepare portfolios for admission to art and design school.

These workshops will give prospective PCA&D students a glimpse into the creative processes that they can expect to use as an art and design student. They will offer tutorials, hands-on experience, and personalized guidance, and students will leave with the tools and knowledge to create and refine existing portfolio pieces.

Upcoming workshop sessions will be held:

  • May 22-26, 6 – 8 pm
  • June 12-16, 6 – 8 pm
  • July 10-14, 6 – 8 pm

More information, including registration links, can be found at https://connect.pcad.edu/portal/portfolio_training_workshop. An explainer video with more details from instructor Rich Johnson can be found below.

In a series of lessons designed to build upon each other, the workshops are a chance to strengthen participants’ work across the board, diving into various mediums and projects. From Fundamentals of Design and Visual Planning to Prototype and Critique, it’s a valuable insight into the thought process that goes into creating a successful portfolio of work.

PCA&D requires all students interested in our BFA degree program to have a portfolio review in a variety of media — and awards special scholarships for outstanding portfolio submissions. See more here about PCA&D’s portfolio requirements.
