Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is pleased to announce that Rachel Boldt, Christiana, PA, a junior fine art major, has been selected as the first recipient of the Mary Colleen Heil Presidential Scholarship.
According to William Mammarella, Chair of PCA&D’s Fine Art Department, Rachel Boldt received the highest average score on the sophomore review process. “That combined with her participation in college and department activities and her professionalism led to the departments recommendation of Rachel Boldt for the scholarship.”
This $12,500 scholarship award was established by the Board of Trustees of Pennsylvania College of Art & Design in 2018 to honor President Emeritus Mary Colleen Heil in recognition of her 25 years of leadership and dedication to PCA&D.
According to PCA&D Board Chair Robert Brandt, “Heil’s tireless efforts, informed by the work of the College’s founding faculty members, shaped the student-centered educational environment where students thrive. Her work and dedication to arts and design education will long be remembered as a foundational value of the college.”
The scholarship will be awarded annually to an exceptional rising junior student who has been identified by the Academic Dean in consultation with the Department Chair of their major.
