Recent accomplishments in our PCA&D community

  • Works by Becky Blosser (Chair, Fine Art), and Matt Allyn Chapman (Adjunct, Fine Art/Foundation) were part of the Lancaster Museum of Art’s New Works from the Echo Valley Art Group exhibition, through mid-December. The Echo Valley Art Group, established in 1945, is limited to 25 professional artists working and creating in the Lancaster area. Membership is by invitation.
  • The design work of Veronica Camp ’23, Illustration, is now featured on merchandise sold by Lancaster Beignet Company in downtown Lancaster. You can see more of her work at @orrangepeels on Instagram.
  • Jason Herr ’16, Fine Art, whose exhibition Solitary Loop just closed in the Main Gallery, exhibited in December at Belgium’s Newchild Gallery as part of Art Antwerp. Herr was the Fine Art Alumni Artist in Residence for 2020-2021.
  • A Curators’ Talk, featuring Evan Kitson (adjunct, Fine Art) Matt Allyn Chapman (adjunct, Fine Art/Foundation), and former PCA&D professor Jeff Geib was held in mid-November in support of the exhibition 10x6H at curio Gallery & Creative Supply. 10x6H, according to curio, was inspired by William de Kooning’s teaching at Black Mountain College. Each of the 10 participating artists was given the same 6H pencils, the same surface to work on (a single sheet of Fabriano 300lb paper, stamped for authenticity), and the same amount of time (since November 2022) to develop an original work of art. 
  • Assistant Professor Aaron M. Thompson (Fine Art/Foundation) has been selected as Juror of Awards for the annual River Towns Plein Air event in Marietta, Pa. The weeklong April event will open for applications in early January. 
  • The most recent project by Prof. Eric Weeks (Chair, Photography & Video), The Great Basin: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Desert, has won several International honors since its recent release. Winner of Best Nature Film at the Environmental Film & Screenplay Festival, it’s an official selection at the 2023 New Filmmakers New York festival and the Equinox Mountain Environmental Film Festival, and an official selection at the Festival International Signes de Nuit, the Portuguese Lemur International Film Festival, and the Internationales Festival Zeichen der Nacht and the 2023 International Avant-Garde Film Awards.  You can check out a bit of the film here
