During the Spring Semester, PCA&D students received honors in four national recognition programs. Congratulations to all!

 

American Package Design Awards: Maranda Bressi,  Wyatt Hockensmith,  and Corey Rafferty

Three PCA&D Students’ work was selected as winners in the 2017 Graphic Design USA’s annual American Package Design Awards competition. Congratulations to PCA&D members of the Class of 2017 Maranda Bressi, West Lawn, PA,  Wyatt Hockensmith, Dover, PA, and Corey Rafferty, Hershey, PA, for winning Graphic Design USA’s 2017 Package Design Awards in April.

The students submitted their entries into the Student Design category of the competition as part of Tom Newmaster’s Packaging Design Class.

2017 Society of Illustrators Student Competition: Abigail Bonett

Abigail Bonett, Illustration, class of 2017, for having her piece, Month of Love, accepted for the 2017 Society of Illustrators Student Competition.

The Society of Illustrators holds this competition every year accepting 300 illustrations from numerous colleges around the world. This year 2,349 students submitted multiple pieces from 78 schools (rough estimation of about 7,000 – 9,000 images). The accepted images are published along with the student and college’s name in a catalog that goes out to hundreds of Art Directors, agents and publishing houses in the nation.

Society for Photographic Educators’ Travel Awards: Larissa Ramey

Larissa Ramey, PCA&D photography major, Class of 2019, received one of ten Society for Photographic Educators’ Travel Awards at their national conference in Orlando, Florida. She spent three days in March at the annual event, where she was able to meet the featured speakers Renee Cox, LaToya Ruby Frazier, and Jerry Uelsmann.

The student awards are given annually to ten SPE student members to offset the cost of attending the annual conference. Jurors select awards based on the merits of submitted portfolios. Student award recipients receive a travel stipend to attend the annual conference, a conference fee waiver, and one-year membership to SPE.

ICMD’s Young Designers Award Competition: Maranda Bressi

Maranda Bressi, Graphic Design, Class of 2017, was awarded second place at the prestigious Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors’ Young Designers Award Competition, in February in Newport Beach, California. Her entry in the competition, a fictional Milkman Cosmetics line mixing humor with outstanding design, was lauded the competition which drew entries from 18 colleges nationwide.

GDUSA: Student Design Awards: Keysey Harson, Jared Shuey and Emily White

From hundreds of entries all over the USA, fewer than 50 projects were chosen as winners for the 2017 GDUSA Students Design Award.  One of those selected was the “PAL” campaign,  focusing on childhood exposure to violence awareness. The campaign was was created by Kelsey Harmon, Eldersburg, MD, Jared Shuey, Northhampton, PA,  and Emily White, York, PA, for their Junior Design Studio II class.
