Pennsylvania College of Art & Design welcomes two new senior-level staff to the College:

Carissa A. Massey, Ph.D., is the College’s new Provost. Dr. Massey is highly regarded for innovative program development and creation of interdisciplinary opportunities, and will support the College’s efforts to expand academic offerings, enrich co-curricular planning, and create robust partnerships with the region’s arts and academic communities. Massey also has deep experience as an Interdisciplinary Art Historian, with a background in arts management and museum studies.

She comes to PCA&D from Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, where she was Dean of Graduate Studies. Massey has a BA in visual arts from Bethany College; a master’s in art history from Marshall University; and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary arts from Ohio University.

Todd Snoval

Todd Snovel joins the College as Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives. Appointed last year by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf as Executive Director for the nation’s first statewide Commission for LGBTQ Affairs, Snovel has extensive experience in higher education, government, and nonprofit entities, establishing planned gifts and donor stewardship plans. As Assistant Dean for Engagement and Inclusion at Lebanon Valley College, Snovel was instrumental in overseeing departmental budgets, developing communication plans, drafting and implementing policies, and cultivating individual and corporate partnerships.

At PCA&D, he will be tasked with forming and cultivating strategic partnerships, actualizing the College’s strategic plan, enhancing fundraising efforts, and leading pan-institutional projects and activities.

Snovel earned his BA degree from Lebanon Valley College, and his master’s in educational leadership from Mansfield University.
