Wednesday, January 31st, 2018
PCA&D’s junior-level graphic design Motion Graphic class, taught by instructor Chris Ruch, paid a visit on January 29th to TC Motion, a motion communications content provider serving advertising agencies, broadcasters, and corporate communicators located in West Hempfield Township, Lancaster County.
According to Pam Barby, chair of the Graphic Design Department, visits like this exposes our students to the many opportunities that are available in the graphic design field. Similar trips are planned for other classes in the curriculum.
PCA&D grad Kyle Newkirk, Graphic Design ’15, has been working at TC Motion since 2015.
In addition to teaching at PCA&D, Chris Ruch is also a PCA&D graduate class of ’93 and a freelance designer and videographer, http://chrisruch.com.
In MOTION GRAPHICS GD316, student are encouraged to explore and experiment through the use of software such as After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut, to create motion graphics and visual effects like those seen in the TV, film, web, video, and advertising industries. Students will learn both the versatility and limitations of these software tools as they solve increasingly more complex design problems. Issues of concept, typography, editing, timing, syncing, and a variety of motion techniques will be addressed.
