The narrative-driven illustrations done by Alex Zhao often incorporate his love for marine life, cooking, and the wide range of human emotions. Working mostly with digital tools, he also uses pen, ink, and watercolors for his pieces. Zhao’s senior thesis project consists of six splash illustrations that aim to embody the feeling and look of one particular emotion: Hope. During his time at PCA&D, Zhao participated in the Competitive Gaming Club, which provided a vision for the school’s first competitive esports team. Following graduation, Zhao plans to pursue a career in the video game design industry.
